Prime Minister Drew Pays Reverent Tribute to Cuban National Hero José Martí: Honouring a Legacy of Freedom and Solidarity

Havana, Cuba, May 23rd, 2025 (PMO) – In a solemn and symbolic gesture, Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew of St. Kitts and Nevis, yesterday, May 22, laid a wreath at the José Martí Memorial in Havana, honouring the enduring legacy of Cuba’s national hero and champion of liberty.

Accompanied by members of his delegation, Prime Minister Drew also toured the memorial, reflecting on Martí’s profound impact not only on Cuba, but on the broader Caribbean and the world.

Exclusively, Dr. Drew shared that his own understanding of Martí’s ideals was shaped during his years as a student in Cuba, a time that instilled in him a deep appreciation for the values of freedom, justice, and international solidarity.

“José Martí’s vision of unity and justice continues to inspire us all,” said Prime Minister Drew.
