Basic Salary: K43
$8,239 p/month

JOB SUMMARY:
Head of the Statistics Department with full responsibility of managing the operations of the department.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
❖Bachelor’s degree in Statistics
❖Master’s degree in related field
❖10 years experience in the field of Statistics

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
❖Knowledgeable and certified in the area of Statistics and can produce National Reports
❖IT skills
❖Management skills and abilities

Requirements of the Job:
The successful applicant must be able to:
❖Manage a department
❖Produce all the necessary national statistics reports
❖Organize work and achieve outcomes and meet deadlines.
❖ Must have proven high level verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present, prepare professional reports, policies, strategies, grants and correspondence.
❖ Must be a team player
❖ Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions as a high-level statistician
❖ Must be able to communicate at all levels

WORKING HOURS:
Traditional: Monday – Friday 8:00-4pm
Overtime when necessary
Mandatory Participation in Department and Ministry sanctioned activities and programs.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Comfortable working environment
❖ Will be required to sign and affirm the Oaths of Secrecy and Confidentiality
❖ Will be required to maintain regular, punctual attendance, consistent with regulations that govern civil servants.
❖ Will be required to attend activities and programs on weekends and evening hours
❖ Must be flexible to travel for meetings and workshops.
❖ May be required to work overtime to meet deadlines and successfully complete work-related activities.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The successful candidate:
Heads the Department and is an authority in the area of Statistics with pertinent professional designations
Manages the staff in the Statistics department
Produces and presents all the necessary reports required of the department
Represents the Ministry on all statistics matters
Trains the staff in the appropriate areas as per need
Liaises with the public for data gathering
Submits appropriate monthly, annual reports to the Permanent Secretary
Interprets data for government’s use
Projects the department strategically for all its functions and responsibilities
Performs any other duty that the Ministry may require
